Background (Preamble):
Syria:
Over 2750 people have been killed since protesters took to the streets in mid-March, All of them shot by Syrian government security forces. This number is rising each week.
over 27 Thousands have been detained and some have been tortured. There are allegations of extrajudicial executions and other unlawful killings, arbitrary arrests and enforced disappearances.
Bashar al-Asad is now killing his own people with his Navy ships, planes, and tanks.
“What is most outrageous is that the people targeted are civilians who are exercising their legitimate rights, which are taken for granted in most democracies. It is shocking then that the President and his security forces could fire and kill those people” – Navi Pillay, UN human rights chief, on the findings of her team’s inquiry into violations of human rights in Syria. http://goo.gl/RZC51 Report: http://goo.gl/8BFn6 By United Nations Human Rights
